Ku?nia Gier

Ku?nia Gier is a publishing house operating on the Polish game market since 2004. We specialize in creating and publishing card, board and role-playing games.

We cooperate with other companies in publishing games. We've published two card games based on the computer game The Witcher (one is available for purchase and the second one was a part of the computer game's collector's edition) in cooperation with CD Projekt RED. Additionally, together with Q-Workshop we have published the Polish edition of Steve Jackson's Munchkin.

2012 Essen releases:

1984: Animal Farm - a new game by the designers of Alcatraz: The Scapegoat presents a dystopian reality in which animals have overthrown their human masters.

Alcatraz: Maximum Security - the first expansion for Ku?nia Gier's Spiel 2011 release Alcatraz: the Scapegoat, contains many new elements, including three new locations, one new character sheet (allowing for play with up to five people) and four new blackmail cards

Top-A-Top Plus - both a standalone game and an expansion for the Spiel 2011 release Top-A-Top, which was game of the year in Romania in the category of children's games.

2011 Essen releases:

Alcatraz: The Scapegoat – the infamous Rock, a well-known American top-security prison. It is said that no one has ever escaped from there. But it’s not really true... Alcatraz: the Scapegoat is a cooperative game for 3-4 players which features an innovative “scapegoat” mechanism. The players cooperate in order to escape from the legendary prison, but they also know that, according to the plan, one person has to stay on the island as the eponymous scapegoat. Who is going to be this person? The most useless player. And you don’t want to be this guy!

Top-A-Top is a simple and fast-playing party game in which players take turns placing their cards in the middle of the table and reacting appropriately to the funny pictures on the cards played, e.g. by making special gestures or saying something. Your reflexes and the ability to make associations are crucial. Your reaction has to be quick and appropriate or else you lose a turn and take all the cards on the table into your pile. The first player to get rid of all of his cards wins.

In 2010 Ku?nia Gier published the second edition of Pirates: Governor's Daughter. Earlier releases include: Kingpin, a tactical board game for 2 players (participants play the roles of the eponymous kingpins – mafia bosses.The objective of the game is to defeat the enemy mafia, led by the opponent. Three important features of the game are: a two-sided game board, featuring two different maps, three victory conditions available for the players, and the lack of randomness during play) and The Witcher: Adventure Card Game for 2 to 4 players, based on the bestselling Polish novel written by Andrzej Sapkowski and the computer game "The Witcher" created by CD Projekt RED.

Apart from the board games, Ku?nia Gier is also the publisher of SGK Veto - the first Polish CCG - and Wolsung - a steam pulp fantasy role-playing game (available also in English via Studio 2 Publishing).
