Joker
Joker was a Swedish board game trademark owned by BRIO Scanditoys AB, itself a subsidiary of BRIO AB. Founded around 1960 (exact year not known with certainty), Joker published, as BRIO's board game arm, board games, sold mainly in Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Most games were manufactured in Denmark and the flagship game was Alfapet, the Swedish name for internationally well known game Scrabble.
In 1984 Joker parent company BRIO aquired competitor and neighbour Alga, and eventually the Joker name was phased out in favour of classic name Alga. This was especially visible when BRIO / Joker lost the licence for Scrabble. Alga, not Joker, was tasked with publishing BRIO's replacement game, also named Alfapet.
As far as it is known Joker's last game was 24 Karat, a game inspired by the Swedish tv series with the same name. The game was published in 1991 and has some nice components.
NOTE: There is two companies who has used the name Joker for their games. BRIO and a company called HISAB. To make matters even more confusing the logotypes were/are very similar. HISAB-Joker games are easily distinguished however, due to the fact that they nearly always are on the topics of "Sex and drugs and rock'n'roll". Several games in the list below are HISAB, not BRIO.
