BRIDGE TROLL
TROLLHALLA
THE ROAD TO CANTERBURY
FANTASTIQA
And a bunch more. (See below.)
Alf Seegert is an internationally published designer of Euro-style strategy games. His board games have been featured on BBC America's The Nerdist, in WIRED Magazine, The New Yorker, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Guardian UK, MTV Geek, The Onion AV Club, The Huffington Post, GAMES Magazine, and TheOneRing.net.
Alf has been designing board games since 2001. He has noticed a strange decline in sleep that began.... in 2001. Six of his designs have been end-round finalists at the annual Hippodice board game design competition in Bochum, Germany: The Vapors of Delphi (2nd place, 2004), Bridge Troll (end-round finalist, 2005 -- later published by Z-Man Games), Ziggurat (end-round finalist, 2005), Mont-Saint Michel (end-round "Recommended Title," 2007), TEMBO (3rd place, 2008 -- later published by Z-Man Games as Trollhalla), and DRUID STONES (2nd Place, 2012).
Alf enjoys designing games with unusual and irreverent themes, and when possible, which allow the players to play fantastical characters or villains. His first published title, BRIDGE TROLL, was released in 2009 by Z-Man Games. His second game, TROLLHALLA, was released in spring 2011, also by Z-Man Games.
In Alf's third game, players get to play the bad guy again, this time troll-free, in a parody inspired by Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, THE ROAD TO CANTERBURY: a game of Pilgrims, Pardoners, and the Seven Deadly Sins -- available from FRED/Gryphon Games.
Alf's game, FANTASTIQA, was published by Gryphon Games in late 2012.
Alf holds a masters degree in Philosophy and an MA and PhD in Literature. He is Associate Professor (Lecturer) in English at the University of Utah.
